Cameras, Cameras, and more cameras

So, I'm looking into new cameras. . . It will be a while before I get one.  I want to go to the dSRL level.  It is a digital, but an entry level professional.  My bestie is looking at a Nikon D3000, and I am eyeing an Canon Rebel XS.  (Although, I REALLY want the T1i one or even the really the T2i, but come on now, those are a little on the pricey side for my fun times at home).  What are you shooting with?  What is your fav?

A few of the most recent 10

These following pages are some recently done work.  I am only "a year behind" with my boys' albums.  I really take pride in that.  Sometimes, it is because it is the simple stuff I do, sometimes it is because I don't take pictures for a few months.           Sadly,  I have discovered though, that my camera is HORRIBLE for taking these kinds of pictures.  I am half way there now to a good camera; however, that means I still have a LOT of saving to do.
This two page layout was "my creation," but probably scraplifted from somewhere, it's pretty traditional.  However, it uses my new stamp set from Close to My Heart!

I used a kit from Hobby Lobby to complete this page.  The yellow card stock was supplemented from a pile of scraps.  The stamp in the top right corner on this page was one I picked up from Stampin' on State Street.  I drove by there last week, and I don't know if they're still open :(  I liked them for my little business.  Anyway.  This was just an easy done page, I do a lot of my own journal writing.  My mom passed away almost ten years ago, and I cherish what papers she wrote on (call me crazy, but I do), so I feel it is important that I write on my pages and journal.

This paper was from Target's Dollar Spot last year.  I love shaped paper, but don't often use it in my layouts.  I used up some old stickers from when I first started scrapping to embellish and then just used the alphabet stickers from the Summer Fun Packet featured above from Hobby Lobby.

To feature this picture, I matted it and then inked the edges with a Close to My Heart Ink called Star Spangled Blue.  I love to ink edges of things and purchased a small set of stipple brushes today from Michael's that I am sure to use.  I love inks!!!
I hope you have enjoyed these samples of my recent work.  Feel free to leave comments.  Let me know what you think, what's missing, what I should add, or a product you're interested in seeing.

I read this on my ipod touch and throughly enjoyed it.  What's it about, you ask???  Well, faking it, of course.  But, in a life sort of sense, faking how you live, faking how you want to be, and then making the changes necessary to be who you want to be.  It's an easy read, and does have some romance in it.

What are you reading??

A small refurbishment

I had purchased some embellishments on the clearance rack from a random scrap store, and loved the little container that they came in. I saved it thinking someday I would create a use for it. . . I still haven't found a specific use for it; however, I have refurbished it.

The printed paper is from a stack (from Hobby Lobby, one of their brands) and the purple is from Creative Memories (Shades of Purple).

I left the top kind of open so when I find an official use for it, I can embellish it a little more with the intent of what it is being used for. Another good punch to have around, is Stampin' Up!'s Scallop Circle. It seems to be that the scallops are appearing everywhere these days. I hope you enjoyed my small project, it didn't take much, but I'm happy with the little changes I've made.
:) Enjoy!

Card of the afternoon

Project of the day: A simple card. I made four with these three elements, although none of them are the same. The papers are from Creative Memories (Shades of Purple). This has to be my favorite punch, it is from Stampin' Up! and then the corner rounder from Creative Memories (I have some in stock if you want one!!)
The stamps??? Well, the one that I uses in the background I bought from Target. I wish I remembered or had the maker of it, because I have quite a few stamp sets from the same company, but don't have their info. . .

Then the phrase stamp is from Stampin' Up! It is one of their clear mounted stamps. I still prefer the acrylic, just because it is see through, but I LOVE Stampin' Up!'s design, so it's a happily made compromise. This specific stamp is from the Well Scripted set. Let me know what you think. . .

A Card I like

This is one of my more recent cards I've made. Although I'm learning how to photograph it better, this lighting wasn't the best, it does show the simplicity I like. I think I got the stamp set from Target a long time ago, background paper from hobby lobby (one of their stacks) and foreground papers were scraps of cardstock. Stampin' Up!'s punch made life SO easy. I love adding that lil'bit of ribbon just to give it some eye candy. Now, to photo more of my stuff and post. Enjoy this til then! :)

Wow, Achievement

One of my goals was to do a little dirty job each day. Yeah, I haven't been so successful with that. Today, however, is an awesome accomplishment!! Cleaning out, reorganizing, getting rid of, anything to do with that is a huge and dreadful task. I think I have some attachment issues, and then with the loss of my mom (almost 9 years ago, now) it makes it even more difficult. I still have (and stupidly kept) 3 small boxes of notes I've passed throughout my middle and high school years!!!! To the point, you say, well, I have a BUNCH of stuff ready for a garage sale, gave a bag of stuff to good will and recycled and trashed a bunch of other stuff. I can't believe myself. All in one evening.

I now have a little more room in the "scrap room" where I've cleaned out a box of garage sale stuff, have a pile of baby stuff to give or sell and then organized some file cabinets and have a mid-size box of recycling and a small trash can full of stuff!!! Ryan (my hubby who dreads doing this with me, because we always argue) and I re-organized the big gray tubs that were in the attic, and minimized our stuff by three tubs, then have two tubs to go into the garage sale and have a tub of each size of clothing from our sons to lend out!! I feel like a whole new woman, and even more excited to accomplish more tomorrow! (Hopefully I'll put some of the stuff away that I got out of the tubs and wanted to keep, for some unknown reason, some of my stuff wound up in tubs up in the attic without me knowing. . . . hmmmm, the husband.)

Tomorrow:
  1. Graham's swimming lessons (his birthday tomorrow!!)
  2. Gabe's tutoring (thanks Jessica!!)
  3. hopefully some gal pals are going to come over and take some stuff
  4. gather more for the recycle/trash/sale/give away piles!!!

Happy Tuesday, coming my way!!!

AMAZING

I just got back from a wonderful conference for Deaf Educators and Interpreters. WOW. I have never been so amazied by beauty in my life. If you haven't known, if you don't know or if you do know - ASL is an awesome language. You can describe, explain and picture things in this inspiring visual langauge that no words could possibly describe adequately. You can describe one thought with one beautiful picture of the thought. . .

Anyway, this adds to my goals. . . I want to become a better interpreter (dare I even think of myself that way - I'm so not worthy). I have vastly improved over the past year, but ugh, I have a lllllllooooooooooooooong way to go to being adequate. Hopefully, for those of you who don't get/see the language - I'll try and attach some things for you to see.

well , so I guess I'm done for now! Until next time - check out this video:

(this was from the old one. . . 6/5)

Today. . .

I discovered I've lost two pounds. That was a goal I had (on my first attempt at a website/blog that I deleted - I'll repost it later, somehow).

My fam went to the aquarium today. We drove the hour out there, showed up about 11:00, only to discover that the were closing early due to a "gala." So, my two sons and I and my husband enjoyed the time we had. We enjoyed the presentation of Fantasea, looked at the frogs, sea horses, sharks, and even a duck. Had a great time!!! Then left to come home and go shoping at the outlet store. Bought the boys some sandals, and came home to eat our leftovers. Now, I'm fighting a headache and debating what "dirty job" I'm going to finish. Any recommendations??

Third Try's a Charm. . .

Sorry, pals, but this is the try that will make it into foreverness (I hope)!! Anyway, I wrote this big long schpeal about the goals and the reason I started this and all that jazz, and it didn't save/post - and NO, I didn't do it wrong - but it went into cyberspace land and got eaten. So, kids - I'll be copying the old blogs over here shortly and re summarizing the ones that have gotten lost and will be adding pictures soon!

Tomorrow will be a day in my happy spot - scrapping at the church with my good friends, Kate and Wendy! Pictures to come!!
